Stanley No. 2 Winterbottom's Patent Combined Try & Mitre Square (Type 2) 9 Inch in length. Hand stamped numbers with 1/8 inch marks on one side and 1/16 inch marks for 3-3/8 inch and then 1/8 inch marks the rest of the length of the other side. Blade has minor pitting and a scratch 1-1/2 inch by 1/8 inch along the mitre wear plate. Early style rosewood handle faintly marked PATENTED ( in an arch ) with April 16, 1872 in a straight line below as well as "PATENTED July 29, 1869" in a circle. Fine marked early example of Winterbottom combined try and mitre square.
